New tool can help to detect cancer in seconds

Currently modern imaging technology such as MRIs, PETs, X-rays, or CAT scans are used to detect or diagnosed most of the diseases.PETs,X Ray,CT scan predisposes patients to risk of radiation while  MRI is time consuming. Level of information provided by these modalities is not usually fully informative as they are not done at molecular level.

Recent study showed Resonant Raman can become an efficient non invasive tool for investigating molecular components in tissues and cells by using laser pointer 532 nm. Resonant Raman provides more detailed information and may help to detect diseases like skin cancer, brain cancer, or atherosclerosis in few seconds.

What is Raman spectroscopy?

Raman spectroscopy is a spectroscopic technique based on changes in the frequency of photons in monochromatic light upon interaction with a sample. Laser is usually the source of monochromatic light.Raman spectroscopy can be used to study solid, liquid and gaseous samples.
