As per a research published in nature communications; treatment with bioactive dietary polyphenol preparation in mice significantly increases their resilience to the stress. They also found two compounds: Dihydrocaffeic acid and Malvidin-3?-O-glucoside which was derived from metabolism of spectrum of novel therapeutics. These two compounds can prophylactically prevent as well as therapeutically treat depression in mice model.
These compounds act by modulating inflammation and synaptic plasticity. Dihydrocaffeic acid reduces pro-inflammatory interleukin 6 (IL-6) while Malvidin-3?-O-glucoside modulates synaptic plasticity.
